Text Box:    Our storekeeper Barry Buckley has opened the ships store for sales. He has an initial supply from the national office and can order more items. Barry had brisk sales at the July picnic. Barry has cuff links, various USSVI patches, belts, ships cups and more items that are too numerous to be mentioned. We have our official base patch in stock now.  Please See Barry at our next meeting.
Text Box:    Ft. Thomas Parade/Harvest Home Parade
Text Box:      Thanks to all who participated in the Ft. Thomas, 4th of July Parade. We had a good showing of members and got to meet some of our new members. Our next parade is scheduled for September 4th in Cheviot on the west side of town. Mark it on your calendar. Cheviot’s Harvest Home Parade has a lot of spectators. This should be the biggest parade for us yet, and should be a lot of fun. The parade goes on for what seems like forever. If you can’t make the walk join us in our tow vehicle or ride on our float (The Sub).  Just a note, Dick will not be joining us in this parade, he will be representing us at the National USSVI Convention, and attending his boat reunion.  Lets put Dick’s mind to rest and show him that we can get it done in his place.

Text Box:      It has been 6 months since our base was formed and it’s a good opportunity to evaluate our progress.  Since our base formed we have grown from 5 to 54 members, have marched in 3 parades, tolled the bells for lost submariners, had a very successful base picnic and published an article in the local paper that helped find more members.  Who would have thought we would have come this far in that short amount of time.  This just goes to show you how close we submariners are.  I would like to thank all of those individuals who have made this all possible, specifically, the brave guys who volunteered to assume board positions.  They have all done a wonderful job.  I think our biggest goal for the remainder of the year is to get more people involved in our base and to continue to seek out more members from the submarine community in our area.

Text Box:       Tom Joyce and Barry Buckley earned a well deserved Bravo Zulu for hosting our 1st Annual Picnic.  The turn out was fantastic.  We held our meeting and met some new shipmates and everyone enjoyed the day.  We even got to see the Base Commander up on skis, though it wasn’t for very long.  We got another visit from the Central Regional Director, Art Randall and he brought his lovely wife.  Art presented  Dick with the District Shipmate of the Year Award, (congratulations Dick you deserved it).
