Showed the Ad that Cincy Base purchased in the Ark. Convention Booklet, to serve as a reminder that the 2010 Convention will be in Greater Cincinnati / Northern Ky. We found out that the National Officers check out the Convention Hotel a year ahead. They spend a weekend, to look the place over. There were a few mistakes made in Little Rock, and we will try not to do the same. We learn more & more from each convention we attend. Two Bases that have Conventions lined up, had information tables set up. Drinks in Hospitality Room quite expensive and the lowest price meal you could get in the hotel was $ 35.00. Our Hotel ( The Drawbridge Inn ) for 2010 has two restaurants. Dick has been keeping in touch with other bases ( Cleveland – Toledo – Columbus – Ft. Wayne, Ind. ) who have offered their support for 2010. Discussed a lot of do’s & don’ts for Convention. There is an average of approx. 60% registered that go to the Convention Banquet. Maybe we could set up a cruise for 2010 ? To have a Head Speaker, you must pay for their Lodging & Meals. They had the Master Chief of the Navy for Head Speaker, how ever he could not make it. Dick has a lot of notes that will help us plan our 2010 Convention. Next years Convention is an Alaskan Cruise, and is quite expensive ( $ 3,500.00 just for two to get on the Boat – does not include air fare, ect. ). * New Business : a) Our Saturday, October 21, 2006 Meeting is a joint meeting with the Indianapolis Base and will be at the American Legion Post in Franklin, Indiana at 12:00 noon. They have a big thing for horse shoes, so bring yours and join in. Cincinnati residents if you don’t want to drive, we can do a ride share, meet at Patric Leedom’s ( 1-28 & 74 ) about 10:30 am. November there is NO MEETING. Sunday, December 17, 2006 is our Christmas Lunchoen / Election of New Officers / Shipmate of the Year Award, at Jim & Jacks starting at Noon. Cost is $ 9.00 a person. Coffee & Soft Drinks are on the house, any other drinks ( beer, wine, ect.) are on a cash basis only. Ladies can bring a dessert if they so desire. We were asked if we would try to get some things for a raffle, if you need a letter on our Non-Profit Status, Tim Rich will send you one. We will have a 50/50 drawing, and will use the same tickets for the Door prize drawings. Will contact Mama Bell. Talked about Cake w/ Emblem, Tim said that Walmart or Kroger’s usually donate it free. Maybe we can put together packages to send to our Military Men & Women. b) Need to start planning meeting locations for 2007. Some- thing to think about-Do we want a permanent ( home) location or do we want to continue to rotate, like we are now ? Had a suggestion of maybe meeting just every other month, instead of monthly. Had some for, some against. Dick Young said he felt we would lose members that way, he suggested maybe do a poll on it. Roger Crombie ( possible Commander elect) said this will be tabled till next meeting. c) Galin Brady made a motion that we form a committee to look into places for our up coming meetings, seconded by David Self, approved. Daryl Beiter – John Madoffori & Tim Rich will serve on this committee. d) Tolling of the Bells Ceremony, we need to contact Peace Bell ( by first of Year) for use on May 28, 2007. Was asked if we would have Food at Tolling. This will be tabled till first of the year. e ) Tom Conlin will keep the title of National Commander for 2007 – 2008. His e-mail = tmconlon@aol.com – phone # 937-483-5780. f ) Galin said he will check the American Submariner for facts about RV Parking. He will take Chairman of this for the 2010 Convention. g ) Patric Leedom is looking for someone to give speech to young people on the Constitution. Also in meetings have members to give a 5 to 10 minute speech on their experiences in the Military. * Good of the Base : a ) Have a New Member here today, John Barker, he is a retired Minister.
